Frame formulations
We are returning to our favorite section #АПКУпроТР with a new definition that raises many questions for those who have carefully read the technical regulations, namely “frame formulation”
● What is a “frame formulations”?
As for the term itself, the “frame formulations” is the final composition of the cosmetic product, which lists all the ingredients and takes into account their concentration ranges in the product and also provides information in case of total or partial non-compliance with the frame formulations.
● Who develops FFs?
The frame formulations that are used in European practice were developed by an expert group of EU specialists and is regularly updated in the technical and scientific progress, in accordance to requirements of Article 2 (s) of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009.
In Ukraine, the central executive body for technical regulation of cosmetic products – the Ministry of Health (MOH) – should publish the frame formulations in open access for all interested parties.
● Are FFs included in the Cosmetic product Safety Report?
No! FFs are used only in the notification portal. The Cosmetic product safety report must include the complete formulation of the product with a list of each individual component and its percentage content.
● Why is this important?
The frame formulations is an integral part of the process of notification and ensuring the safety of cosmetic products. The frame formulations can help specialized experts in providing quick and proper medical care in case of complications after using a cosmetic product.
