The Law “On Protection of Consumer Rights” in the new edition

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Consumer Rights” in a new version (which has not yet entered into force). Its declared goal is the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European regulation.

Now the legal requirements for product information will apply to the part not covered by the Technical Regulations. That is, clauses 47-51 of the Technical Regulation on cosmetic products will become the main regulator of requirements for cosmetic packaging.

Similar to the current edition, the new law also contains a provision on the need to comply with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language” without any reservations about the use of INCI. That is, this issue remains open for further clarifications and enforcement.

Specialists of the Association are waiting for the law to be signed by the President, the official publication and plan to prepare an overview of the key changes of this important act.
